The Need for Web 2.0 Integration with OBIEE
    Sunil Ranka - Trianz Inc.

OBI EE is a comprehensive suite of enterprise BI functionality, including interactive dashboards, full ad hoc querying, enterprise reporting and more. However, OBI EE lacks in Web 2.0 integration. In this presentation we will talk about different Web 2.0 concepts and how OBI EE can provide them as built-in solutions. Web 2.0 concepts within OBI EE can solve not only many performance-related issues, but can give a richer UI experience. During this presentation we will talk about why OBIEE should give built-in integration with the following Web 2.0 components/concepts:
    • RSS and ATOM feeds
    • Web services
    • JavaScript and AJAX
    • JSON
    • Mashups
    • Programming Frameworks like Adobe Flex
    • Blogs
We also discuss how approaches like AJAX, JSON, which represent data only, are far more compact than XML, which means better performance than sending XML over the network. Implementing this in OBIEE can improve report performance a great deal.

Finally, we will showcase how BI reports are published in a wiki, so that others can add to the content and construct a formidable resource of knowledge and expertise on business performance. Such wikis can be applied to specific areas of business operation or to more strategic performance management either at the line-of-business level or at an enterprise level.

    Presenters:
Sunil Ranka is an OBI EE Architect, currently working for Trianz Inc (www.trianz.com). He has been an Architect/Tech Lead in analytics at Cisco Systems and a Senior Developer with Oracle Corp in financial (Sarbanes Oxley compliance) and CRM application areas.

The Element of Risk: Using Oracle Crystal Ball to Calculate Forecasting Risk and Certainty
Lucie Trepanier - Oracle Product Management

Net Present Value. Credit Ratings. Return on Investment. Revenue. Key dashboard metrics about the future are vital to you, to how you run your business. These are the calculated values upon which you base your decisions. While numbers are necessary, they are not sufficient by themselves to fully enlighten the decision-making process. A missing element: Forecasting Risk.

This session will use a series of customer use cases from Financial Services and other industries, to show how to use Oracle Crystal Ball to calculate the uncertainty inherent in the numbers. As well, the session will highlight new capabilities in BI to report on both value and risk combined. Oracle Crystal Ball is a leading spreadsheet-based application for risk measurement, including probabilistic modeling, simulation, time-series forecasting and optimization.

Presenter: Lucie Trepanier focuses on pre-sales activities for Crystal Ball as well as product integration strategies within Oracle. Lucie has over 20 years experience in product management, marketing, project management, engineering and cost estimation. Prior to working in software, she spent many years in consulting engineering, construction and electronics manufacturing. Lucie holds a BS in Electrical Engineering and an MBA, from McGill University, Montreal, Canada, and can be found most nights at the dance studio, prepping for her next ballroom competition.
